  • Flynt & Fales. Son of a chirurgeon, who brought him to Boston when he was about 14. When he died the Boston Evening-Post noted that he was "a Gentleman of a very fair Character and well respected by all that knew him." His estate, appraised by Jacob Hurd, totaled £4,840 of which £336 was "Goods in the Shop." He is noted for his church silver and one of the rare early standing salts. 3

    Engraved on shoulder "Ex dono / Dm Johannis George / 1706" and "C over B I" for Reverend Benjamin and Jane (Clark) Coleman. The cup was given to Coleman when he recieved George's daughter into the Battle Street Church on 04 August 1706.

    Engraved W over I S. The mug by Edwards shown below is engraved with the same monogram. Dating circa 1720, it was made for Jacob Wendell and Sarah (Oliver) Wendell, who married on August 12, 1714, and it is likely that they were the owners of this spout cup as well.

  • His obituary was published in the Boston Evening Post on 14 Apr 1846 in Boston MA. "John Edwards, goldsmith, a Gentleman of a very fair Character and well respected by all that knew him, died Apri 8, 1746, aged 75 years."

John married Sybil Newman on 29 Oct 1694 in Boston MA. (Sybil Newman was born on 10 Mar 1670 in Wenham MA and died in 1739.)
