- He was a partner in 1796-1805 with Samuel Shethar in Litchfield CT as SHETHAR & THOMPSON. Originally the firm was at "the Red Shop located few rods west of the meeting house." 3
- He worked in 1805-1811 as a silversmith in Litchfield CT 3
- Advertised in the Litchfield Gazette (Litchfield CT), 11 May 1808, "Gold and Silversmith. Makes all kinds of Tea and Tablespoons in the most workmanlike manner and plated work of all kinds. Watches carefully repaired. Cash paid for old Gold and Silver." 3
- He worked in 1811-1817 as a silversmith in Brattleboro VT in a one-story wooden building on the east side of Main Street, opposite the Tavern. The business was continued by his son, Daniel B. Thompson. 3
