At the time of the great Boston fire, 20 March 1760, he was located on Mackerel Lane and lost personal goods valued at £32/5/4. The Suffolk Registry of Deeds has a record that John Doane of Eastham bought land and houses on School Street from the heirs of Samuel Haugh, goldsmith.
