Silversmith

  Events in his life were:

• Curtis and Gideon Botsford were one-time owners of the Glebe House on south side of Hollow Road, located near Botsford's silversmith shop. Across the street is the Jabez Bacon's house where Curtiss lived until his death and which continued in his family for 80 years. ³

• He worked from 1825 to 1840 as a silversmith in Woodbury CT where silver spoons, spectacles, thimbles and other silverware was made. Succeeded to Jabez Bacon's general merchandise business along with its buildings in 1834. Business consisted of supplying peddlers who covered New England, and adjacent areas. ³

• He was a partner from 1826 to 1831 with Lewis Burton Candee in Woodbury CT as CURTISS CANDEE & Co. ³

• He was a partner from 1831 to 1835 with Lewis Burton Candee and Benjamin Stiles in Woodbury CT as CURTISS, CANDEE & STILES.
