- He was a partner circa 1821-1852 with Daniel Booth Hempstead and Asa Spencer in Eatonton GA as D. B. HEMPSTEAD & Co. Apparently his involvement was short-lived. An advertisment ran in the Georgia Journal of 6 March 1821 announced:
"All persons indebted to Nathaniel Saltonstall, formerly of the firm of Daniel B. Hempsted & Co., watchmakers, Eatonton, Putnam County, are requested to call and adjust their accounts before the first day of May, next.

Nathaniel married Lucretia Lamphere, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, on 22 May 1800. (Lucretia Lamphere was born on 4 Oct 1781 in New London CT and died on 18 Sep 1849 in New London CT.)
