FRANK MORTIMER WHITING, OF NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS.

    DESIGN FOR A SPOON, &c.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,559, dated May 24, 1892.
Application filed March 21, 1892, Serial No. 425,857. Term of patent 3 1/2 years.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK MORTIMER WHITING, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Attleborough, Bristol county, Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Handles of Spoons, Forks, and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown my design as applied to the handle of a spoon in a plan view.
It will be understood that while I have shown the design as applied to a spoon it may be applied to the handles of similar objects if found desirable, and instead of being applied to one side only may be applied to both.
The leading feature of my design consists in the representation of a bow-knot on the enlarged part of the handle, with two streamers extending lengthwise of the handle. The handle is shown as perfectly plain, and at its widest part two loops are formed, which extend parallel or approximately parallel to the sides of the spoon, with the representation of a band passing around between the loops, and with two streamers extending from the central part of the band toward the reduced part of the handle. The two streamers are of different lengths and their ends are divided. The streamers are represented as extending downwardly in wavy lines and approximately parallel to each other, with the longer part of the divided lines adjacent, and with the shorter ends projecting out toward the ends of the spoon.
    I claim—
The design for the handles of spoons, forks, and the like, herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
