  • Apprenticed about 1693 to Jeremiah Dummer in Boston MA 9
    Suggested by his father's business association with Dummer.
  • He worked about 1702-1711 as a silversmith in Boston MA
    Edward Winslow and James Barnes, goldsmiths, gave surety for Henry Hurst for the sum of 200 before the Supreme Judicial Court of Suffolk County. His inheritance from his father's estate was apparently sufficient for him to give up his career. 9

James married Mary Tay on 13 Jan 1708 in Boston MA. (Mary Tay was born on 16 Mar 1688 in Billerica MA and died on 30 Oct 1721.)
