  Events in his life were:

• Apprenticed about 1800 to Enos Woodruff in Elizabeth NJ
  

• He worked circa 1807-1812 as a silversmith and clockmaker in Elizabeth NJ ⁵

• Master to David Austin Sayre 1810 in Elizabeth NJ. ⁵

• He was a partner in 1812-1815 with Ichabod Woodruff in Lexington KY as I & E WOODRUFF. The firm may have only been platers and brass founders. Apparently, his share of the plating business was sold to David Austin Sayre in 1815; he retained the brass foundry and the original firm name changed to WOODRUFF & SAYRE. ⁵
