- He worked in 1808-1812 as a silversmith in Elizabeth NJ 5
- He was a partner in 1812-1815 with Ezra Woodruff in Lexington KY as I & E WOODRUFF. The firm may have only been platers and brass founders. Apparently, Ezra's share of the plating business was sold to David Austin Sayre in 1815; he retained the brass foundry and the original firm name changed to WOODRUFF & SAYRE. 5
