- Advertisement by George Kippen in the Connecticut Courier (Bridgeport CT), 6 Jun 1821, "Watch-maker, earnestly solicits the patronage of his friends and the public; and although he cannot bombastically assert that he is from England or London, he hopes the public will not consider him the less entitled to their patronage, in being an American. . . . He has taken the store with Wm. Wordin, on the corner of State and Water streets, where he offers for sale the following items at reduced prices: English and French silver watches, Gold Watch-chains, Seals and Keys . . . Silver Tea and Table Spoons, Sugar Tongs. ..." This ad was obviously in competition with one placed by Thomas Green, from London, same day in same paper. 3
