- , . A. O. Jennings, former manager of the Jerome Clock Company, in 1883 formed the Manhattan Watch Company. The factory, located at 158 Monroe Street, New York City, occupied the greater portion of a six story building. The company produced low priced watches only. The movements were essentially the same 16 size, and full plate. The winding was considerably different from that employed in most American watches. The Manhattan Watch Company produced about 160,000 movements in its short life span. Most of the watches were cased at the factory and sold as complete watches, which was unusual for that period of time.
