Binghamton March 26th 1840 Dear wife, I arrived about 15 minutes ago. I have been out 2 nights and 1 day on the road and no sleep. I therefore feel quite tired and do not feel much like writing but I know you would feel anxious if I did not. I cannot tell you much about Binghamton yet. It commenced snowing the evening that I left N. York and it snowed for 2 days so that we had good sleighing last night and this morning. I do not think that I would have started quite so soon if I had known that we were going such weather. It is horrid travelling. I feel almost tired out. but I think 1 good nights rest will make me feel better. To morrow I intend to look around the place and I will write you more about that. I cannot now for I can hardly keep my eyes open. While I am writing here in the Hotel there stands one of those cursed . . . Jewelry peddlars selling his Jewelry & lying and Cheating every word he speaks it is strange that people will be taken in so. I think by what I can learn that I shall stand a perty good Chance here, but store rents are high. However I will tell you more about it. I feel lost with out you but I think that I shall be back in about a week, so good bye and be a good girl. kiss ( ) for me. My love to all I remain your affectionate Husband Gustavus C. Bradley |
