  • He appeared on the 1850 census taken at New York City NY, listed as a silversmith.
  • He worked circa 1852-1854 as a silversmith in New York City NY
    At the end of 1854, he set aside his trade, bought a small tract of land in Mount Vernon and set up as a grocery, one of the first merchant in the newly established town. In 1867, he sold up his business to become a real estate speculator and made a sizeable fortune.
  • He appeared on the 1860 census taken at Eastchester NY, listed as a merchant.
