STEPHEN WING 1177 son of Stephen and Elizabeth Smith Wing Stephen Elnathan Ananias John Rev John Matthew was a jeweler in New York City Before the Civil War he journeyed to New Orleans and is said to have become wealthy A letter written by Stephen to his mother and sister while making the voyage from New York to New Orleans was printed in full at rage 1344 of The Owl During the war he came North upon a visit to his father and brothers He espoused the cause of the South and thru that an estrangement occurred between himself and his New York relatives and altho he wrote to his mother as long as she lived he dropped all other intercourse between himself and his Yankee kinsmen It will be noted that in this letter Stephen signed himself CS Wing His kinspeople say that he was married but had no children Dr Wing at 1310 John Wing of Sandwich refers to one Charles Wing a jeweler in New York City who stated that his father went from Weath erfield Conn as a soldier in the War of
