General notes:
Silversmith (tentative)
Events in his life were:
- , . There is debate as to whether this Rockwell was a working smith. Ensko, adopting the earlier unsourced attribution of Currier, notes tools of the trade in the 1795 inventory of his estate, but the original document has not been located. No independent reference has been published regarding his work as a silversmith. The script mark used by Samuel Darling Rockwell has been misattributed to Thomas, though it appears on goods made long after his death and with a proven history in New York City. Likewise, the roman marks used by Edward Rockwell have been proposed and dismissed for the same reasons.
