- , . Apprenticed at age 16, he finished his training and established himself in Wexford, where he worked for nearly 30 years. In 1801, he moved his family to America, settling for a short time in New London CT, before moving on to Norwich, where he worked as a smith for nearly a decade. He retired from the trade in 1811 and moved west, settling on a farm in Zanesville OH.
This William Gurley has been confused by Flynt & Fales, et al with the William Gurley born in 1769 at Mansfield Center CT, but who never worked as a silversmith.
