  Events in his life were:

• Apprenticed Abt 1832 in Springfield MA.
  It is not known who he served under, but it appears he never completed a full term of training. His health failing, he worked in the store of his uncle Daniel Willard till age 22. In 1835, he moved to Chicopee and established a fancy goods store, prospered, and by 1854 was president of Cabot Bank. Several family descendents claim to have silver work by his hand, but the pieces are unmarked and there does not seem to be any evidence that he ever practiced the trade, so their true origin remains an open question.
