Boston 17 Feb. 1829 Dear Mother — I perceived a Boatman in town this morning and thought I would write some lines and send by him should I see him as he went out. — I have no particular need to write, but can tell you that I enjoy my usual state of health, and continue in the same shop as yet. We expected to have moved into a better store, but are disappointed. We hired a man to give up his store but he can not find a shop to suit himself therefore will not move out. Trade is very dull and money scarce — should you have any money between this & April which you could spare, I should like to loan of it — business will probably be better in the Spring & should we get into a shop that will suit there is no doubt but we shall do very well — |
- He was a partner circa 1834-1835 with Nathaniel Kimball in Boston MA as WILLIAM GRANT & Co. In 1835, he sold his shop and goods to his former apprentice, William Pratt.
