Events in his life were:

- Alternate Mark the remnant of an ampersand seen in both these marks indicates a cut-down punch. It is not known that Voorhees had any partnerships, but it may have originally read "& CO" which was removed due to damage or a change of business name.
- He worked circa 1837 as a jeweler and watchmaker in New Brunswick NJ he gradually left his trade in mid-life, becoming involved in various financial interests. He was president of the Old State Bank of New Brunswick.
- He appeared on the 1850 census taken at North Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ, listed as a watchmaker.
