• Apprenticed in 1815 to John Taylor in Newark NJ
  The general stagnation of the jewelery trade forced him to conclude his term several years early. He returned to Longmeadow and worked at a variety of trades before becoming a dentist in 1821. He later went on to Harvard Medical School, graduating in 1827.
