- Advertised in the New London Connecticut Gazette (New London CT), 17 Jan 1772, "Wanted as an apprentice to the goldsmith and jeweler's business, an active boy of about 14 or 15 years of age. . . ." 3
- Advertised in the Norwich Packet, 22 Sep 1779, "Wanted as an apprentice to the goldsmith and jeweler's business, an active boy of about 14 or 15 years of age. . . ."
- Flynt & Fales:, . 3 In 1770 he set up shop in a section of Norwich known as "The Landing." He purchased land in 1777 in the East Society of Norwich, "at a place called Pauquetannock Village near the head of the Cove called by that name," where he lived. In 1775 probably made and repaired guns and bayonets.
Samuel married Abigail Harding on 18 Jan 1770. (Abigail Harding was born about 1754 in Groton CT and died on 28 Mar 1827.)
