- Boston MA, 26 Apr 1762: an ad in the Boston Evening-Post announced that Ebenezer Pitt, Jr. of Taunton, goldsmith and watchmaker, was married 08 April 1762 to Miss Lydia Cudworth, "a shapely young Lady, graceful in her Carriage, agreeable in her Conversation, and endowed with every necessary Qualification to render the Marriage State agreeable, being crowned with considerable Fortune. This Mr. Pitt is thought to be a relation of the Right Hon. W—m P—tt, Esq., he being a man of great Ingenuity."
This is the only found reference to Pitts work as a maker; all other documents call him a joiner or yeoman. 3
