- Born: 21 May 1761, Milford CT
- Marriage (1): Margaret Van Horn in Milford CT
General notes:
Silversmith (by courtesy)
Events in his life were:
- Advertised in the The Missionary (Sparta GA), 12 Jan 1824, that he had taken the stand occupied by Cyprian Wilcox for the past seven years and intended pursuing the business of watchmaking, silversmithing, &c.; the grocery business would also be carried on.
When his son-in-law, Cyprian Wilcox was forced to sell his business to satisfy creditors in August 1823, De Witt bought all the necessary tools and supplies. It is presumed that Wilcox carried on the business in DeWitt's name. 15
- Advertised in the Hancock Advertiser (Sparta GA), 21 Dec 1826, announcing to the public that he was closing his business in Sparta and that C. Wilcox was his authorized agent. 15
Garrett married Margaret Van Horn in Milford CT. (Margaret Van Horn was born on 15 Mar 1763 in Milford CT.)
