Joseph Soames
- Born: 1681, Boston MA
- Died: 2 Aug 1705, Boston MA
General notes:
Silversmith
Events in his life were:
- Apprenticed on 1 Nov 1697 to Rene Grignon in Boston MA 9
For a term to last 5 years. In 1703, however, Joseph Soames, son of John Soames, deceased, sued his master for £150 for failing to "teach and Instruct in arts trades and Callings of Goldsmith and Jeweller." It is not clear why Grignon "refused and still refuseth. . ." to give instruction, but perhaps he was planning to return to the Huguenot settlement at New Oxford MA. Apparently, Soames finished his training under another master, as he is refered to as "Goldsmith of Boston" in the court papers.
- He worked circa 1701-1705 as a silversmith in Boston MA 9
