General notes: He graduated from Harvard College in 1681, and was pastor of the church in Branford, CT, to the membership of which he was admitted 7 Mar 1687/88, and his wife was admitted the next month. In his house was held the famous meeting of clergymen at which the Collegiate School of Connecticut (now Yale University) was founded. Samuel married Abigail Whiting in 1685 in New Haven CT. (Abigail Whiting was born in 1666 in New Haven CT and died on 7 May 1773 in Branford CT.) |
