  Events in his life were:

  • Flynt & Fales:, . 3 Previously considered New Haven's first native silversmith; now, according to John D. Kernan, this distinction goes to Isaac Doolittle. Primarily known as a clockmaker, Hotchkiss was also a blacksmith, and practiced dentistry. The inventory of his estate, taken by Isaac Doolittle and Samuel Bishop, Jr., Sept. 7, 1761, lists "spoon molds, 2 goldsmith's hammers. . . ", as well as watchmaker's tools, "Iron Partly worked," and "Instruments to draw teeth with."
  • He worked in 1748 as a silversmith, clockmaker, blacksmith, and dentist in New Haven CT with shop on south side of Elm Street. Later moved shop to Grove Street. 3
