  • He worked about 1790 as a silversmith in Savannah GA from shop on the Bay, near the ruins of the old Coffee House. 15
  • Advertised in the Columbian Museum & Savannah Advertiser (Savannah GA), 1796-1797, offering his services as a silversmith, watchmaker and jeweler. In 1797, he announced his departure for New York. 4
  • He worked in 1799-1805 as a silversmith and watchmaker in Utica NY possibly the first smith to work in that city. His shop was at the corner of Genesee and Whitesborough Streets. 15
  • He was a partner in 1805-1807 with John Osburn in Utica NY as BUTLER & OSBURN. 4
