• He worked in 1777-1800 as an engraver in Boston MA
  He inherited the engraving tools of his uncle Nathaniel Hurd: "to J^no Mason Furnass ... my large printing press & some tools in consideration for the love I bear to him & the genius he discovers for the same business which I have followed & to which I intended to have brought him up to." Active as a portrait painter in Boston after 1785. Engraved numerous bookplates and Massachusetts Loan certificates. ²⁶
