It is unlikely there was any formal contract between them. It is more likely that Talbott was an attentive employee, learning as he worked.
- He worked circa 1834-1866 as a jeweler in Indianapolis IN in 1835, Daniel Webb sold the shop after a brief partnership to Eliott Foster. Talbott continued on as an emplyee and when Foster sold out in 1845, purchased the business, renaming it Talbott's Cheap Jewelry Store.
- He appeared on the 1850 census taken at Indianapolis IN, listed as a silversmith.
- He appeared on the 1860 census taken at Indianapolis IN, listed as a merchant.
Washington married Elizabeth Coram Tinker in 1848 in Hamilton Butler OH. (Elizabeth Coram Tinker was born on 24 Nov 1827 in Kentucky and died on 17 Jan 1900 in Boston MA.)
