  Events in his life were:

• Apprenticed abt 1832 in Springfield MA.
  It is not known who he served, but it appears he never completed a full term of training. By 1835, he had moved to Chicopee and established a fancy goods store, prospered, and by 1854 was president of Cabot Bank. Several family descendents claim to have silver work by his hand, but the pieces are unmarked and there does not seem to be any evidence that he ever practiced the trade, so their true origin remains an open question.
