Josiah Whitaker
General notes: Silversmith Events in his life were: • Apprenticed in 1803 to Nehemiah Dodge in Providence RI 3 • He was a partner in 1805 with Nehemiah Dodge in Providence RI as NEHEMIAH DODGE & Co. 3 • He worked from 1806 to 1820 as a silversmith in Providence RI as Josiah WHITAKER & Co. At some time the firm also included Thomas Whitaker and William Greene who were both mentioned in the notice of dissolution printed on 9 March 1820 in the Providence Gazette. 3 • He worked in 1820 as a silversmith in Providence RI from shop at 55 Cheapside, opposite the First Baptist Meeting House, where he sold and manufactured "Jewelry, Silver Spoons, Gold Beads, Etc." 3 |
